Lavender House Bed and Breakfast
Bay Minette, Alabama

Southern hospitality and a good night's sleep await you at Lavender House Bed & Breakfast. This early Victorian 12-room home with its original high beadboard ceilings and beautiful stained white pine stairway was lovingly restored over the past five years by the owners and made into a lovely bed and breakfast. The house features large front porches on both levels and a big deck on the back. In January 2003, the Baldwin County Historic Development Commission, for their efforts, presented owners of the Lavender House a historic marker for restoring the home to its original splendor. Simple though elegant, with restoration almost complete after several years, Lavender House is providing to be a tremendous asset to the city and community.

The grounds are filled with azaleas, camellias, gardenia, and a variety of blooming bulbs: daylilies, spider lilies, buttercups, narcissus, amaryllis and others, many of which pop up with surprising blooms at different seasons of the year. The spacious back lawn contains a wonderful garden pond that is still in use some 75 years after its construction; it is flanked by a huge Florida palm tree.

Situated on a quiet wooded acre in downtown Bay Minette, Alabama, Lavender House is located at the corner of State Highway 31 N (Atmore Highway) and McConnell Avenue, five blocks east of the Baldwin County Courthouse.

Bay Minette, the seat of Baldwin County, is located just ten minutes from the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, the second largest estuary in the US, and Alabama's largest wetlands, covering roughly 300,000 acres. It is also home to the Bartram Canoe Trail, Alabama's official state canoe trail, and encompasses Forever Wild, composed of over 60,000 acres dedicated to public use for boating, fishing and hunting. It is the greatest of Alabama's Ten Natural Wonders! It is also known for birding, and features numerous boat launching sites. We are located within an hour's drive to Pensacola Museums and Florida's beaches, to Gulf Shores and Alabama's sugary white beaches, to the famous and dazzling Bellingrath Gardens, the IMAX Theater, Exploreum and Museums in Mobile, and to one of Alabama's largest retail outlets, Tanger Outlets, in Foley.
