Amberley House Bed and Breakfast, Tasmania
If you are planning to visit Tasmania, please follow this link to find out about our boutique heritage bed and breakfast accommodation in Hobart.
A note about Bed and Breakfasts in Tasmania: The term “bed and breakfast Tasmania” can mean a lot of different things, from authentic historic boutique accommodation to faux heritage “death by dusty doilies”. Having said that, part of the charm of booking in at a bed and breakfast in Tasmania is the varied nature of this sector of the accommodation business and the possibility that you might chance upon the inspiring getaway of your dreams (and everyone dreams differently).
This is in stark contrast to the “hotel chain” option which might offer greater certainty of outcome but leaves little possibility for that once in a lifetime hosted experience. The aim of this website is to convey to you what we offer to provide under the banner “bed and breakfast Tasmania”.
It is our heartfelt intention to portray here only what you should expect should you be so kind as to come and stay with us. Our philosophy is that time is the most important currency, so if you want to spend your time with us then we want to make sure that you have spent it well. Of course we can’t tell the whole story in print, so if you have any additional concerns or queries then please don’t hesitate to contact us.
At the very least we aim to be the cleanest Bed and Breakfast in Tasmania – indeed the AAA inspectors (who assess properties for their star ratings) always note that “cleaning is of a very high standard”. By the way, at our last inspection (July 7 2006) we were awarded 800 points (4 stars) – just another 30 points and we would be 4 ˝ stars! We “lost” points because we provide breakfast at our formal Georgian dining table rather than at individual tables – but don’t start me on the AAA rating system!

Please note that our Empress Vineyard is in Victoria, far removed from Amberley House which is our bed and breakfast in Tasmania.
It’s a long story but we moved to Tasmania in 2003 and left our vineyard behind (vineyards are hard to move). However we still produce wines under the Empress Vineyard label and you can find out all about them on this site. Alternatively you can sample them for yourself at Amberley House, our bed and breakfast in Tasmania.
