Ideally located in the heart of historic Kingston, the Painted Lady Inn offers seven tastefully decorated rooms. All with private baths, fine antiques, central air and wireless internet. The executive rooms offer the business traveller private telephones for laptops and cable television. A deluxe room with twin beds is perfect for friends travelling together. For an afternoon coffee break or late night cup of tea, there's a snack nook for guests to enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and cookies. Built in 1872 as a Victorian manse, the inn is just minutes from the 1000 Island cruises, Fort Henry, the farmer's market, Queen's, RMC, 17 museums, art galleries, 200 restaurants and pubs. Wake up to the tantalizing aroma of freshly-baked croissants and coffee. Between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. guests gather around a big oak table in the dining room for a breakfast served on Spode china and silver.( A guest with an early meeting can arrange breakfast at 7:30 a.m.) Guests agree that breakfast at the Painted Lady Inn is an experience - just the right mix of fine food and great conversation. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the wide range of topics discussed around the breakfast table and inevitably some pressing world problems are solved. Breakfast is a a fixed menu--maybe cheese omelets with freshly baked croissants or French toast or homemade waffles. Of course, there"s always fresh fruit, plenty of piping hot coffee, a selection of teas, different kinds of juices, homemade jams, and condiments. (The breakfast menu always has a vegetarian choice.) After breakfast, guests are invited to enjoy a mug of coffee or tea on the veranda while reading the morning paper. If you have a little more time on your hands, why not head up to the upper balcony, find a sunny spot and start that book you've been intending to read.
