Our home is charming and elegant and, set in colourful gardens, a gourmet / cooked breakfast is included in the tariff. Walk on our magical, endless beach before breakfast, in the evenings or at any time at all! Or sit outside under the pergola to enjoy a drink, relax in or wander round the gardens and watch the many and varied birds feeding and listen to their lovely singing. .

Nga Manu Nature Reserve offers you a unique opportunity to have a hands on experience related to the natural history of New Zealand. We hope that by visiting the Reserve you will gain an understanding of the ecosystems by viewing examples of plants and animals within the different habitats that make up the Reserves ecosystems. The reserve offers you an opportunity to see a diverse range of our native flora and fauna in just one visit. Most visitors would spend approximately 1-1.5 hours at the reserve. All pathways are easily walked and there's adequate seating around the reserve.

Eco-Tours to see some of the world’s rarest birds, and enjoy the unique and fascinating fauna and flora of this protected island. Experience how New Zealand must have been over 800 years ago. You will pass through a marine reserve on the way over to Kapiti Island and may see passing whales and dolphins (in season). Many sea birds can be seen- gulls, gannets, penguins, petrels, terns, and shearwater. Also a collection of most of New Zealands native birds in their natural habitat such as Kiwi, Takehe, Bellbirds, Tuis, Kereru (native wood pigeon). Kea.

The island is our heritage, and to protect it, the NZ Department of Conservation allows only 50 visitor-permits a day. These need to be booked in advance. Allow for two nights accommodation at Rosetta House to make the most of this tour. We will book the boat trip and purchase permits on your behalf. A courtesy drop-off and pick-up from Rosetta House will be provided for our guests.
