Blue Moon Retreat
Our country getaway is located on a former sugar bush and has over 1,500 feet of lake frontage on largely undeveloped Purdy Lake. While secluded, it is still readily accessible year round with direct access from a county road. Snowmobilers will appreciate the ready access to the 20,000 Km of groomed Ontario snowmobile trails.
Cleanliness a key priority...
We have tried to develop a friendly home away from home that people will want to return to year after year. To us, as with many people, cleanliness is a key priority and we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard in this important area.
All cottages are completely equipped with standard appliances (e.g. fridge, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, satellite color TV, VCR) and furnishings and are finished and decorated with an interesting mixture of Canadiana and artifacts from our travels and work around the world just a couple of examples: Fran's world plate collection and Pat's small; but, growing collection of African wooden masks.
We believe it is a unique country getaway which can be enjoyed year round (you'll love the duvets on the cooler nights). In the 3 largest units there are additional appliances - dishwashers in all 3 while Shangri La and the Chalet also have their own washer and dryer. There are complimentary central laundry facilities for the other cottages.
For those fortunate enough to stay in Shangri La, the cathedral ceilings, large fieldstone fireplace, boathouse sitting room and private hot tub will bring hours of enjoyment. While those in the Chalet will no doubt enjoy the Jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace and 52" color TV.
On the premises...
For those who want to be active, you can enjoy tennis, fishing (lake trout, pike and rock bass), swimming (with swimming raft), canoeing, badminton, beach volleyball, horseshoes, sunbathing, rowboats and paddle boats.
Others may more enjoy the Wellness Spa with its 8 person hot tub and sauna. We believe everyone will enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Purdy Lake, star gazing without the light pollution (you may even be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights), bird watching (our favorites are the blue jays and loons) and singing songs around your own outdoor fire.
All services and facilities referenced above are complimentary and in fact the only extra charges are for taxes and telephone calls you make while staying with us.
