Off the beaten track, quietly nestling in the Millwood Indigenous Knysna Forest, Garden Route, Western Cape: a self-catering vacation haven for nature-loving families, stressed-out city-dwellers, adventurers & honeymooners. Each fully equipped 2-bedroomed cottage houses up to 5 persons. Forest Edge accommodation offers an authentic, memorable and affordable break-away holiday experience.

Experience an emerald day on Forest walks, picnics or biking trail adventures, lazing in a hammock, or visit the beach or Knysna town (20min away). Rejuvenate in a hot-water outdoor shower or indoor bath. Mellow out on the chalet verandah, watching birds or buck drink at the dam. Light a braai(barbeque) under the stars; flitting fireflies and evocative nightjars add to the enchantment. In winter enjoy a book or movie by the cozy log-fire...

Forest Edge - Cottages

The 5 fully equipped self-catering Victorian style cottages are identical in layout. Each cottage is equipped for a maximum of 5 persons. Our offering is differentiated in our popular Evergreen Level cottages aptly named Fire Fly, Froggy Pond and Field Mouse.and our new Lushgreen Level cottages Foxglove and Fairy Den.

The shaded verandah has a table and chairs and overlooks the private barbeque area, with a grid. Fire wood is provided in a large chest.
    As you open the front door, you will be charmed by:
  • A welcoming open-plan lounge / dining / kitchen area
  • A cozy fireplace (with bucket of firewood)
  • A short passage leads to the 2 bedrooms and bathroom/toilet
  • The main bedroom contains a double bed
  • The second bedroom contains 2 single beds
  • A cot and/or extra mattress can be provided on request
  • The old-fashioned bathroom has a bath and basin,
  • The toilet is separate
    Cottage Facilities provided:
  • Private outdoor double hot-water shower at EACH cottage
  • Park right next to your cottage, in a safe environment
  • Bedding, linen and bathing towels
  • A fridge with freezer compartment
  • A stove with oven plus a microwave oven
  • TV 1/2/3 and ETV plus a video machine (DVD in Lushgreen cottages)
  • A small library of books and videos (or dvd's) in each cottage
  • Cleaning Services included (excl Sundays/public holidays)
  • Heaters/fans
  • A Hammock for secluded, shady lazing
    Common facilities provided:
  • Jungle Gym
  • Open air communal log seat fireplace - ideal for large groups
  • Basic backup power in addition to ESKOM power (i.e. hot water)
