Memquisit Lodge, Monetville Ontario, West Arm of Lake Nipissing
To those who want to spend their vacation fishing or hunting or just plain relaxing, let us tell you about Memquisit Lodge. Situated at the extreme western end of West Bay on Lake Nipissing, Ontario, you will find a log cabin camp called Memquisit Lodge. Memquisit to the Micmac Indians meant hidden amongst silver birches and evergreens. The location is ideal for fishing or boating as West Bay is protected from the more boisterous waters of Lake Nipissing. Extending inland for thirty miles to what is known as the West Arm of Lake Nipissing; West Bay is filled with large and small, wooded, rocky islands with a shoreline of thickly weeded bays. It is a fishermen’s heaven and a photographer’s paradise.
Memquisit Lodge offers you accommodations which are virtually unmatched in the industry. Our cozy American Plan Pan abode cabins are constructed with cedar timbers. They sleep anywhere from 4 to 8 guests comfortably. Our cabins are well distanced from each other allowing you to experience complete privacy.
Each of our rustic housekeeping cottages is comfortably furnished and offers most of the conveniences and luxuries you normally find at home.
At the lodge you will find 16 cabins and one rental unit, ranging from one with a single bedroom to one with five bedrooms. Amenities included in 11 of these cabins and the rental unit are; electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, silverware, dishware, pots & pans, television, DVD player, 3 or 4 piece bathrooms, bed linens, a propane barbecue and finally some include a small chest freezer. These 11 cottages cater to a housekeeping environment style of camping where guests prepare their own meals and basically provide for themselves.
The remaining five cottages are strictly American Plan style cabins with absolutely no cooking facilities included in any one of them. Theses cabins are the newer style cabins called Cedar Pan abode. One of these comprises of two bedrooms while the others are all four bedroom cottages. Amenities included in these cabins are, microwave, coffee pot, coffee, toaster, refrigerator, 4 pc bathrooms, television, DVD/VCR combos, free DVD rental, bath towels, face cloths and bed linens.
All of our cabins are far apart separated by tall trees and brushes allowing you complete privacy.
Most of the lodge dates back to the 1920s with an addition built in the 60s to enlarge the dinning room, office and lounge. When you enter the lodge you become part of the thousands that have set foot at one point in time in this historical building. It features a dinning room with a seating capacity of 50 guests, a comfortable and cozy lounge, a large kitchen, a confectionary, souvenir and gift shop, a game room with pool table, a kids activity centre and a large screened in deck overlooking the bay.
In our lounge you will enjoy satellite dish viewing, a cozy fireplace, tools of days gone by hanging over the fireplace mantle, a piano and a small but very interesting library made up of very old books. You will also find our picture albums with photos dating back many, many years.
In our store you find everything you need to make up for the things forgotten at home. You will also find fishing tackle, our own line of clothing and souvenirs
In our kitchen we prepare good wholesome homemade meals for our guests. We assure you that no one leaves feeling hungry. Our meals are preset such as our walleye fish fry on Sundays, our roast beef dinner on Tuesdays, our Turkey dinner on Thursday or our steak night on Fridays. All meals are capped with our fresh homemade pies.
The cottages are constructed of two, three, four and five entirely separate rooms where you can enjoy the privacy of your own porch and scenery typical to Northern Ontario.
These cottages are all heated during the season and are fitted with good Hudson Bay blankets, linen and pillows, where you relax and enjoy the fresh air laden with the aroma of the evergreen forests after a hard day of fishing or boating.
Our red cedar log cottages, offer warmth and comfort for all of our American Plan guests, nicely furnished, all with picture window overlooking the scenic Lake Nipissing. Wall to wall carpeting, and four piece bath. They are all spaced far apart so that you have complete privacy.
The Housekeeping Cottages are also nicely furnished and are completely equipped so that all you need to bring is your food, clothing and wash clothes.
All have hot and cold running water, flush toilet, shower and a deep freezer for your food and fish. We do not stand on ceremony here...dress casually.
