Recycled dune buggy Tour guides Ancient Mayan Ruins White sand beaches Pristine reef to snorkel (weather permitting) Mexican-style picnic Delicious food Healthy snacks Purified water Cokes Mexican beer Thousands of divers come every year to Cozumel Island to dive the spectacular reefs, mostly along the southwest coast. All the hotels and the town of San Miguel are on the west side of the island. The weather comes mainly from the east, so the east side of the island is virtually uninhabited. There's a road around the south half of the island and a little stub of road on the northwest. So the northern half of the island, especially the east side, is pretty much inaccessible, except by a long boat ride that won't necessarily get you to the beach because of the offshore reefs.
